Gordon-Levitt responds to those rumors he'll show up in Man of Steel

Ever since the ambiguous ending of The Dark Knight Rises, rumors have been swirling that Joseph Gordon-Levitt might show up in Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman flickMan of Steel. So what does Gordon-Levitt have to say about all that speculation?

Despite that fact that Gordon-Levitt's pal Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight saga,Inception) is producing, Gordon-Levitt says he's not in Man of Steel. Or at least, he says he'd tell us if he was. And he hasn't told us, so he's probably not.
Here's how Gordon-Levitt answered the question to MTV, saying he hadn't even heard the rumor he'd be hanging out with Supes:
"I hadn't heard that one. It just goes to show how much you can believe rumors ... I don't think you should believe in any of them. If there's something I'm going to be in, I'm going to tell you about it."
So there you have it. Gordon-Levitt isn't in Man of Steel, at least not until he tells us he's in it. Which he hasn't. Yet.
The ending of Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises leaves Warner Bros. in an awkward position as they try to plant the seeds for a Justice League film. Nolan's recent trilogy is about the only major success the studio has netted in the superhero genre in recent years, but it'd be crazy (wouldn't it?) to pick up after his series with a Batman that isn't Bruce Wayne, via Gordon-Levitt's Gotham City detective John Blake.
They definitely have some tough decisions to make, balancing the continuity and success of Nolan's series with the challenges of creating a larger, connected world, which is apparently starting in earnest with Man of Steel. What do you think? Heck, might Gordon-Levitt (or someone else) pop up down the line as a new Bruce Wayne, under a rebooted continuity?
