Anglers Juraj Petrovaj and Peter Caklos, who specialize in fishing catfish, used a handmade rod to reel in a 220-pound, 8-foot 5-inch catch. The giant catfish was caught in Domasa, Slovakia after nearly an hour struggle. Once on shore, the Petrovaj and Caklos were amazed by the monstrous fish’s size. Experts estimated that it was between 40-45 years old. While the men normally bring their catches home to the dinner table, they decided to release this astounding catfish back to the water.
The Domasa dam in Eastern Slovakia is home to some very large catfish where recently a catfish measuring over 7.5 feet long was caught. But what is believed to be the largest catfish ever caught was one captured in 2005 from the Mekong River in Thailand. It weighed in at 646 pounds measuring 9 feet long. VIDEO
