Lamborghini's new 'Egoista' supercar thinks it's a jet aircraft

If James Bond (or Batman) were Italian, you can bet that he'd be tooling around in the just-unveiled Lamborghini Egoista. Created to celebrate the Italian car maker's 50th anniversary, the Egoista was heavily influenced by the aviation industry.
More specifically, the Egoista is based off the Apache helicopter. To begin with, the Egoista features an octagonal Apache-style heads-up display and a one-seater cockpit that will have you thinking you're really flying when it hits 60 mph in under two seconds on its 5.2-liter V10 engine with 600 horsepower. Adding to the list of aviation-inspired design is an aluminum and carbon fiber construction made of antiradar material, and a series of self-actuating rear spoilers that'll make you feel the wind beneath your feet the second you hit the gas pedal.
By the way, that cockpit isn't just for show. In an emergency, the entire thing can be ejected — a Bond-esque feature, if ever there was one. That ejector seat just might come in handy, too, because getting out of the Egoista in the Lamborghini-suggested manner takes a bit of doing says Walter De Silva, head designer of the Volkswagen Group :
"To get out of the vehicle, the driver must remove the steering wheel and rest it on the dashboard, open the dome with an electronic command, stand up in their seat, sit down on a precise point of the left-hand bodywork, then swivel their legs 180 degrees from the inside of the cockpit to the outside of the vehicle. At this point they can set their feet down and stand up."
Still, that's a little price to pay for having Lamborghini's most-exclusive and aggressive supercar to date. You can forget about the Egoista being the next Gallardo or Aventador rolling through Beverly Hills, because the Lambo's newest is one of a kind, and will likely remain that way, forever. According to the company's press release for the Egoista:
"It is a car for itself, a gift from Lamborghini to Lamborghini, resplendent in its solitude. The Egoista is pure emotion, Never Never Land, which no one can ever possess, and which will always remain a dream, for everyone."
Beauty shots of the Egoista can be found in the gallery below, along with a video at the end of it all. That might just be the closest thing to seeing the real Egoista most of us will ever get. VIDEO
