World's fastest scanner captures a 200-page book in 60 seconds

Scanning an entire book is tedious work. It usually involves scanning a page at a time, and it's serious time-consuming. But this new scanner out of the University of Tokyo speeds that process up significantly, thanks to a 500fps camera.

Rather than laying every page flat on a scanner, this setup allows you to simply flip through the pages quickly under the camera. It captures all of the pages and then uses software to straighten the images out. The result? Clean, readable images that were captured in a fraction of the time of a traditional scanner. Pretty sweet!
