Solar Soccer Ball could one day power World Cup theatrics
The power of the FIFA World Cup has finally caught on in the U.S. and now Taiwan's Greendix aims to capitalize on the sport by introducing the Solar Football.

Made possible by a new kind of solar panel that can be custom-shaped, the Solar Football draws energy from the sun to power the ball's built-in motion detectors and audio components designed to aid visually impaired players. The innovative panels, which are as energy efficient as traditional rectangular panels, can be shaped into nearly any design and come in a range of colors. Aside from sports, the possibilities this opens up for new kinds of design-friendly sustainable energy homes and vehicles boggles the mind.
