Peter Jackson definitely directing The Hobbit (and water is wet)

In a move that surprises no one, the Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings filmmaker is sliding into the chair vacated by Guillermo del Toro and taking over directing the two-partHobbit.
It's been busy in Hobbiton of late. Within a week or so, we get the news that there's an actors' union boycott of The Hobbit, that the two-film prequel to the Lord of the Ringstrilogy will be shot in 3-D and, now, that Peter Jackson will step behind the camera to finish what he started.
According to Deadline, Jackson is committed to direct the $500 million project (most likely to be bankrolled by Warner Brothers), which will definitely be in 3-D, with December 2012 and December 2013 as the projected release dates.
Stay tuned. More incremental news from Middle-earth is no doubt forthcoming. LINK
