Will MGM bankruptcy pave the way for a RoboCop TV series?

We've been rooting for MGM to sort out its financial woes, mostly so there could be some forward motion on The Hobbit. But there's another reason that getting MGM's bankruptcy plan approved would be a good thing—it'd mean we might see RoboCop return to TV.
According to a plan reported in Variety, Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, who run Spyglass, would act as co-chairmen and CEOs of MGM once the company came out of Chapter 11. But what does this have to do with RoboCop?
We'll let Variety explain:

Those familiar with the specifics of the Barber/Birnbaum plan, however, said the studio will put more emphasis on developing scripted and reality programming for cable TV. Under its new structure, MGM would have three execs overseeing film, TV and digital. In part, the concept hinges on developing TV programs from MGM's 4,000-title library, including RoboCopSilence of the Lambs and Dances With Wolves.
So if all goes according to plan, don't be surprised if RoboCop—which was already rebooted once from film into a 1994 series—appears on TV in a few years.
