Internal Apple Doc Confirms Macbook Air Display Issues

Apple hasn't publicly acknowledged that there are display issues with the 11- and 13-inch Macbook Air, but Boy Genius Report, which got its hands on a confidential Apple document, is saying otherwise. The blog claims that Apple employees have been instructed to say that it is aware of this issue and is working on solutions.
The issues afflict the recently launched Macbook Airs, not the original 13-inch that was announced two years ago. Among the issues is a bug that displays horizontal lines in varying colors when the system wakes up from sleep. This display symptom was also described by the Apple internal document as "fading from dark to light colors repeatedly after waking from sleep." Another issue was described by document as "horizontal flickering" after waking the computer from sleep or hot-plugging from an external display.

There's no permanent fix yet, but Apple, if this document is real, is suggesting that customers put the system to sleep by closing the lid, wait 10 seconds, and open the lid to wake it up. This will force the display to power-cycle and return it to normal.
PCMag has several Macbook Air 11-inch review units and there's no indication that this issue exists in these devices. Of course, we'll keep trying and update this article as soon as we hear from Apple. If there should be a permanent fix, it'll most likely come by way of a software update.
