A newcomer in a post to AndroidForums has provided many more details of the LG Star that include some record-setting performance. He confirmed that it was using NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 by running the Quadrant benchmark, which showed it being about 40 percent faster than even the previous best, a Nexus One using Android 2.2. A previously unseen HDMI port also supports the use of the chip and suggests it could output 1080p.
Despite earlier claims and the prominent "Google" badge, the phone shown here isn't running a stock version of Android and instead is running a newer version of LG's Android skin and custom widgets. A check of the system info also showed it running Android 2.2, although it's undetermined whether this was only for temporary testing until 2.3 was ready or else if the device would be shipping with the older version. An eight-megapixel camera, a microSD slot and a 1,500mAH battery are the only other known extras.
The Star's timing is still unknown but would most likely show either at CES in January, when NVIDIA is expected to reveal a slew of Tegra 2-based hardware, or at Mobile World Congress in February. LINK
