Today there's yet another great reason to get Zombie Driver:
Finally the Blood Race is here and available to all players as a free update! The expansion provides a unique gameplay style based on classic, old school, top-down, racing games with a flavor of next-gen, dense action. Blood Race offers the chance to chase other cars and annihilate them without mercy on special racing tracks populated with the zombie horde. Winning events earns loads of cash and the ability to obtain new rides and purchase weapons of zombie mass destruction to become the ultimate leader board champion.When Zombie Driver came out, you could only play a sequence of missions in which you had to race around the city map to pick up survivors and get them back to base before a time limit ran out. Then it got a fantastic arcade slaughter mode based on scoring as many points as you can in fairly small arenas. And now, with the Blood Race add-on, it's got sprawling races peppered with car combat and liberal amounts of environmental destruction.
The Blood Race mode is a series of tournaments, each increasingly difficult and each consisting of multiple events. Events include races, checkpoint challenges, and combat challenges. After each event, you can spend money to upgrade your car. As with the game's other modes, there are separate medals, leaderboards, and Steam achievements. The Blood Drive add-on also adds a new slaughter mode map and a pretty cool Trans Am-inspired muscle car.
Zombie Driver was good when it came out. Now, with three distinct ways to play, it's flat-out great. And it puts Activision's full-priced next-gen zombie combat driving game, Blood Drive, to shame.
