Even as Apple is fast readying the second generation iPad – fondly called the iPad 2 – for release a few months down the line, Indian customers are likely to get the device soon. When we say Indian customers, we mean the ones among you who haven’t yet got to play with the first generation iPad even after the global launch happened. On January 28, Apple will release the iPad officially in India. So if you are one of those customers who really wanted the device to arrive officially, you are entitled to smile now as the device is arriving in a matter of just 3 days.
The iPad that arrives in two variants will be priced between Rs 26000 and Rs 44000. While one variant will be a WiFidevice, the other will operate with a SIM card that has data connectivity and also WiFi.
The WiFi version will come in three versions of 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. The price of the lower end variant will be Rs 26000, while the upper end unit will come for Rs 37,000.
Meanwhile, the WiFi device with a 3G SIM card will cost between Rs 33,000 and Rs 44,000 and will come in 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB versions. Apple plans to release the device in India only through their premium retailers.
The 9.7-inch touchscreen slate will come with a resolution of 1024×768 pixels – the screen resolution being 132 pixels per inch. The device will boast of a high-resolution, 9.7-inch LED-backlit display , which makes it the apt platform for web browsing and video and photo viewing.
Apple will bring the device into India spruced up with the iBook app that would let you buy or download books.
Besides, it will also boast of the GoodReader app that can display PDFs, text files,Office and iWorks docs and also will let you open photos and playback audio and video files.
