Kindle books now outselling paperbacks on Amazon

Who said e-books would never catch on? It looks like dead-tree books are going the way of the vinyl record, as Amazon is now selling more Kindle e-books than paperbacks.

During the holiday sales season, Amazon sold 115 Kindle books for every 100 paperbacks sold. And those Kindle numbers are only going to grow as more people hop on board with the e-reader. I don't think we'll see the death of physical books anytime soon, but I do think they're going to turn into a somewhat rare fetish object for Kindle holdouts. And hey, with how much environmental damage making paper and shipping books causes, is that really a bad thing?
