Johnny Depp promises less confusing sub-plotty stuff in Pirates 4

If you thought that Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 had too much going on (and were a wee bit confusing) and that the first one was the best of the lot, well, you're not alone: Even Captain Jack Sparrow himself, actor Johnny Depp, thinks so. But he promises that the fourth entry in the series, On Stranger Tides, won't make the same mistake.

That's what the actor claims in an article published in Empire magazine, out now in the U.K. (North America readers will have to wait about a month for it):
"Pirates 2 and 3 became quite ... sub-plotty. The mathematics of it. All of these people went to see them two or three times just to figure out what was happening. This one is a little closer in tone to the first: more character driven, more subject driven. It has a freshness. Less mathematics."
And that sounds really good to us.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stanger Tides is set to hit theaters on May 20.
