AOL buys the Huffington Post to create a giant blog conglomerate

AOL buys the Huffington Post to create a giant blog conglomerate In a surprise move late last night, AOL ponied up a whopping $315 million for the Huffington Post, the popular left-leaning blog. Hoo eee.
What does that mean for you, the humble web surfer? Not a lot right away, probably, but Arianna Huffington is now in control of all AOL editorial content, including AOL properties such as Engadget, TechCrunch and Moviefone. It's not clear if she'll make any sweeping changes to these properties, how HuffPo will become integrated into the AOL ecosystem, or any other details. But it should be interesting to watch, for better or worse.
