ASUS Trying To Beat Apple and Others To Quad Core Tablets?

Nvidia Tegra chipASUSTek makers of the ASUS Eee Pad line of tablets might have a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 tablet in the oven if new reports prove true.
The tablet that will feature the quad-core chip isn’t going to be any of the tablets ASUSTek has already shown. Tablets already unveiled by the maker but not released included the 10-inchASUS Eee Pad Slider and the 7-inch ASUS Eee Pad MeMo EP71, both of those models will have either Nvidia Tegra 2 or Qualcomm processors.
According to a report by Digitimes the tablet that will feature a quad-core chip is still up and coming and has no release plans yet. The report states that the tablet will bring the tablet offering for ASUSTek full circle with lots of versatility.

Currently Nvidia has only demonstrated the Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC nicknamed Kal-El once, at Mobile World Congress. During their demo Nvidia reps. stated the Tegra 3  chips would be ready this year for devices like tablets.
At this time the tablet market is enthralled with dual-core ARM processors from Nvidia or other makers. Tablet vendors like Apple, Acer and Motorola already have dual-core tablets in the marketplace for consumers to purchase. The only other tablet vendor other than ASUSTek that has had quad-core rumors circulating has been Motorola, at this time.
Apple A5Tablet market leader Apple is likely to embrace more advanced chips for the Apple A-series of custom SoC’s. The current Apple iPad 2 tablet runs on a dual-core 1 GHz Apple A5 SoC that was custom designed by Apple. A quad-core chip could make its way into the next iPad, Apple iPad 3.
