We've been following the sun-powered Solar Impulse plane for a very long time. Since 2008, we've seen it complete its test run, conquer a 26-hour day and night flight, and now it's successfully complete a flight from Switzerland to Belgium.
Piloted by André Borschberg, the entire Solar Impulse voyage stretched roughly 300 miles and took about 12 hours to complete. That's quite an accomplishment, considering the plane's 200-foot long wings are packed from top to bottom with solar cells and no other fuel options.
Transatlantic flights and circumnavigating the globe are still on the to-do list, but it won't happen until at least 2013 and 2014. We're rooting for successful journeys on those as well!
