Several Japanese handset makers have tried, but it looks like this time one has finally gotten their would-be iPhone competitor right, and it's called the INFOBAR.
The phone, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, is actually a complete refresh of KDDI'soriginal, and incredibly popular, INFOBAR design that was strong on looks, but operating much like any other Japanese phone. The new INFOBAR A01 is, quite simply, a different take on the iPhone, using the Gingerbread version of the Android operating system to harness the powers of touch screen technology.
What makes the phone stand out is how its body merges seamlessly with the screen's block-oriented interface. Pricing and release date have yet to be announced, but in the meantime you can see the INFOBARin action in the video below.via KDDI
