Windows 8 Is Blatantly Ripping Off Apple's Mac App Store

The upcoming Windows app store has been an open secret for awhile now, but with every new build of Windows 8, we get a better idea what it'll be like.
Last week a few phony screenshots of the app store leaked, but they got the basics right. Based on what people have found hidden in Windows 8, the store will essentially be a knockoff of Apple's Mac App Store.

Here are the latest clues, uncovered by the Italian blog Windows8Italia, and translated by TNW. There's nothing groundbreaking here, which is just another example of how Microsoft imitates rather than innovates with new versions of Windows:
  • In-app purchases.
  • You can download free "lite" versions of apps and upgrade to the full version.
  • App searches can be sorted by category, price, popularity, etc.
  • Users can report problems with apps to developers and request new features.
  • User-generated reviews.
Again, nothing earth-shattering here. In fact, it's a blatant copy of Apple's App Store.
