Game changer: Nissan develops 10-minute quick car recharger

One of the biggest downsides of electric vehicles is the recharge time; rather than fill up at a gas station for a couple of minutes, you need to leave the car plugged in overnight. But Nissan has developed a new method that requires only 10 minutes to juice a car up.

The breakthrough apparently came about by switching up the electrode inside a capacitor from carbon to tungsten oxide and vanadium oxide to improve power. So new cars will need to come with batteries able to be charged this way, and the tech is still about a decade out from being fully commercialized and distributed. But still, this certainly solves one of the biggest problems electric cars have had, and will hopefully help them catch on even more than they already have.
