Dallas police investigate the scene on Forest Central Drive where an off-duty officer chased an suspected shoplifter.
A theft suspect passed out and died this morning after being arrested by an off-duty officer who chased him down in North Dallas.
The officer, who was working at a Home Depot, spotted the suspect about 11 a.m. near the intersection of Central Expressway and Forest Lane and ran after him.
While being handcuffed, the suspect began having trouble breathing, police said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to an unconscious person call at a National Tire and Battery store just south of Forest on Central.
The man was taken to Medical City Dallas Hospital where he died. His name was not released. LINK
