Thailand Flood Affecting Western Digital's Operations

The tragic monsoon that swept through Thailand last week that left hundreds dead will have long-lasting impacts on technology components, especially those from Western Digital. Asrevealed in a recent press release, WD expects the damage to affect their operations later this year:
The company now expects that the flooding of its Thailand facilities, combined with flood damage to the company's supply chain in Thailand, will have significant impact on the company's overall operations and its ability to meet customer demand for its products in the December quarter. The company will provide further updates on the situation on its investment community conference call on Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
WD isn't the only company based in Thailand that relies on these components. As Forbes points out, Seagate, Hitachi, and Toshiba all manufacture their HDDs in Thailand and each have released separate statements regarding the impact the monsoon will have to their quarterly profits.
