This skittish little quadruped dog robot is called SQ1, and it was seen recently prancing around at the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems in San Francisco. Developed by a Korean company called SimLab, it seems to be pretty good at walking, but can lose its balance and fall over at times. SQ1 can't walk backwards, but that's no different from actual flesh and bone dogs.
With its long spindly legs SQ1 kind of reminds me of a Whippet, especially compared to that Mastiff-like American effort Alpha Dog. It just goes to show that national stereotypes exist, even in the robots we make. LINK
