Looking like a swanky new Star Trek shuttle design, this little pod is actually a camping trailer. But that doesn't mean that it's not from the future. Called the Caravisio, this trailer is the result of designer Knaus Tabbert's reimagining of the traditional European caravan.
By drawing heavily from yacht design elements, Tabbert has created a mobile trailer that would look just as comfortable at sea (or amongst the stars) as it does on the road. Tabbert himself calls the Caravisio "the caravan of the future," and it's hard to argue with him.
Equipped with a full-size bathroom, a kitchenette, a retractable rear deck and modular furniture, the Caravisio is basically a luxury studio apartment. There's a ceiling-mounted projector for movie nights and the glass rear doors can be tinted to appear frosted over, creating a built-in movie screen. There's also a touchscreen water management system, as well as a pair of pedal/electric-powered bikes which charge as you drive. Once you're parked, you can unlock the doors via fingerprint scanner.
To top it all off, all of this futuristic caravan's many systems can be controlled via smartphone app. It's enough to get us on our feet and scrambling for our credit cards. But that's where the bad news kicks in. Cool as it is, Tabbert doesn't have any plans for mass-producing the Caravisio. All we can do is wait with bated breath for him to reconsider.
