Why it could be a while until we actually get to see Mad Max: Fury Road

If you’ve been waiting patiently to see a release date for the long-anticipatedMad Max sequel Fury Road, you might as well just keep on waiting. It’s going to be a while.
Word broke via Inside Film that George Miller’s sequel, which stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, is now heading over to Australia for at least three weeks of reshoots. If you’ll remember, the film originally wrapped its six-month shoot in December 2012 in Africa, more than nine months ago.

You’d think a final cut would be pretty close by this point, but apparently not. It seems Miller believes he needs some more footage to finish this one out, so we’ll have to hang tight and trust him.
So if you were hoping we might see this one in early 2014 (or perhaps even very late 2013), you can go ahead and probably hang it up. Now it’s looking like the best-case scenario is mid-to-late 2014 — if not sometime in 2015.
We’ve waited this long for a Mad Max sequel, what’s a few more years?
