Think all Benedict Cumberbatch did was lend his voice to the namesake dragon in The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug? Think again.
We knew that Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Star Trek Into Darkness) was taking on some motion-capture duties as well, and now we have our first look at his best dragon face. So how does he look, all decked out in mo-cap gear, growling at a camera?
Absolutely hilarious. But we think it’ll look pretty terrifying when attached to an actual dragon. It’s nice to see Cumberbatch throwing himself into the role, and if the glimpse we got in the trailer is any indication, he’ll make one badass dragon. We especially like that toothy pic.
But it’s not just facial capture — we also get a shot of Cumberbatch on all fours showing off his best dragon moves. This is, seriously, awesome. The pics are included in the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey extended addition, which is now available.
