How insane is the trailer for Robot, a new Indian sci-fi flick coming out overseas later this month? There's a giant cobra made of robot men that slithers around eating cars. Cobra-bot, people! C'mon!
Costing more than $32 million, Robot is—according to the filmmakers—the most expensive Indian film ever made. And it looks like they put all that money on the screen, hiring Yuen Woo Ping (The Matrix) to choreograph the action, Stan Winston Studios to design the animatronics and Oscar winner A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) to do the music.
Listen, we've no idea if this film is any good. Clearly it was made with a sensibility American audiences aren't used to, given that the characters break into very elaborate song-and-dance numbers seemingly at the drop of a hat. But judging by the trailer, Robot promises to look like nothing you've ever seen before.
And these days, that counts for something. LINK
