Apple may be a bigger brand than Facebook. However, when it comes to wealth, it's Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg who is bigger. Forbes annual list of 400 wealthiest Americans ranks Zuckerberg at no. 35, six ranks above Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who is ranked at no. 42.

This year, Zuckerberg, 26, added $4.9 billion to his fortune on the Forbes 400 with an estimated fortune of $6.9 billion. Zuckerberg, who is tied for No. 35 on the list, saw his wealth jump 245 percent. "Very few are at an all-time high, with the exception of how phenomenally well Facebook is doing," said Luisa Kroll, global wealth editor for Forbes.

Jobs net worth stood at $6.1 billion, $1 billion higher than 2009.

Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft Corp, topped the list richest American with estimated assets of $54 billion. Oracle Corp CEO Larry Ellison, 66, ranks at No. 3 on the list with $27 billion fortune.

Incidentally, the list also has Dustin Moskovitz, a co-founder of Facebook who left the social networking site in 2008. He has a net worth of $1.4 billion, tying him for No. 290. Moskovitz, 26, is also the youngest person on the list.
