Designer Ho-Tzu Cheng has an interesting — if a little high-tech — solution to eliminate the blind spots in cars. A lot of modern vehicles have a rear-facing camera so you can see what's behind you. Cheng wants to expand that to cover the sides, too, and put it right where you can plainly see it: the top of your windshield.
Called the Full-Rear-View Windscreen Monitor, what you're basically getting is a wide-screen look of what's going on around the rear of your vehicle, blind spots included. The curved display along your windshield is probably the hardest part to pull off here, making sure that it's not too obstructive for the driver — especially in low-light situations. That, and you're be sacrificing some upward visibility, which could be problematic if you're trying to read a sign passing overhead.
Still, with a display band along the top of your windshield, you wouldn't have to take your eyes off of the road. Personally, though, we'd still want a mirror in case something goes wrong with the feed.
