Officials at Round Rock-based Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) said Boomi’s tools are designed to enable businesses to use cloud computing. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Berwyn, Pa.-based Boomi was founded in 2000. The company employs 40 workers.
Dell, the No. 2 computer maker in the world, employs 14,000 workers in Central Texas. The company has been acquiring companies to expand its services division that generates higher profit margins helping customers manage information technology networks.
Earlier today, CEO Michael Dell said at an event in Hong Kong that the company planned to announce an acquisition without naming the target, Bloomberg reported.
“We continue to acquire new assets,” he said. “We will announce an acquisition that will accelerate this type of integration into the cloud.”
Shares of Dell are trading at $14.47, up 5 cents or 0.38 percent.
