Christopher Nolan has announced that Anne Hathaway will play Selina Kyle, erstwhile jewel thief and Bruce Wayne love interest, while making it clear exactly who Tom Hardy will play. And it isn't Hugo Strange.
As we TOTALLY CALLED IT last week, Hathaway beat out a roster of actresses to land one of two female lead roles in Nolan's final Batman film. In a press release, Nolan said:
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story."Nowhere in that release did it mention the word "Catwoman," but it'd be kinda ridiculous to put Selina Kyle in the last Bat-chapter and not have her strap on the crime-jammies and steal something besides hearts.
And though the popular wisdom had Tom Hardy playing mad scientist Hugo Strange, Nolan revealed that the Inception veteran will be playing mad science experiment Bane, the hulking juicehead who broke Batman's back in DC Comics' 1993 Knightfall event.
In Nolan's hands, we're thinking that Bane will be presented with a bit more sophistication than inBatman & Robin. We're hoping. Okay, we're praying.
