Motorola Xoom Prepares To Steal The 2011 CES Show From The Apple iPad 2 Rumor

Motorola finally gives a glimpse of its highly anticipated 10.1-inch Android powered Xoom tablet the day before the big show. Who says size doesn’t matter? In Motorola’s case, size is everything as it delivers 10.1-inches of pure supercharged technology.
Some might consider Motorola to be a rookie in the tablet world, but don’t let the time in game fool you. Motorola has already successfully delivered a number of smartphones that are powered by Google’s Android OS.

Android will feature its newest 3.0 (Honeycomb) OS which is specifically designed for tablets, unlike its original Samsung Galaxy that is powered by Android’s smartphone OS. Some of the technical specs make the Xoom the most powerful tablet on the market. Motorola supercharged the Xoom by working with chip designer Nvidia to integrate the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor to double the processing speed found on the Samsung Galaxy and Apple iPad. In addition to the dual core processor, the Xoom will also have 1GB internal RAM that will allow for multiple programs to run without lag.
The Xoom also comes equipped with a front and rear facing (5MP) camera for live video chat. Record, plug, and play in HD. The Xoom comes with an HDMI port to play all of your HD recorded videos directly on your HDTV.
The Xoom is expected to launch sometime in March as a 3G/Wi-Fi device, and will upgrade to Verizon’s 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) by 2Q, according to Motorola. It is unclear to exactly how much the tablet will cost, but a smart guess will put the Motorola Xoom between $600 to $800 to compete with the Apple iPad currently being sold.
According to Motorola, they are not the first company to feature the Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, but the first that will make it to market in March.
The hype around tablets has consumed the 2011 CES Show with over 50 new tablets expected to be showcased this year. It is still unclear to know what exactly Apple has in store for its newly rumored iPad 2. These rumors have escalated after a Chinese accessory manufacturer displayed an iPad 2 case that features a front and rear facing camera hole. Other rumors give the iPad 2 a dual-core processor featuring a pair of 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 cores.
