I'd like nothing more than to tell you that Samsung announced some more innovative cameras this morning, but sadly I can't. What I can tell you is that there are now five more fairly unimpressive ultracompacts in the world stamped with the Samsung brand.
Four of the five (listed below) are standard point-and-shoots priced from $100 to $200. The one pictured above--the 16-megapixel ST6500--is the only one that stands out a bit from the bunch. Not because of features, though, but because the body design is a little different, aimed at improving shooting ergonomics.
It also has a 5x, 26mm-equivalent wide-angle lens and a 3-inch touch screen, but really that's it. Or at least that's all that Samsung thought was important enough to tell us about it.
Priced at $229 look for the ST6500 in March. The few details I have for the other models are below.
