Sarah Connor to terminate... JUDGE DREDD?!

Super-tough "Mother of the Future" Lena Headey, Sarah Connor herself in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, might be going head-to-scary-helmeted-head with Karl Urban's Judge Dredd as another kind of mom in Dredd, director Pete Travis' reboot of the classic comic book scripted by novelist and 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland.

Genre fave Headey, who aside from SF icon Sarah Connor has played Queen Gorgo in Zack Snyder's 300 as well as Cersei Lannister in HBO's new TV adaptation of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones novels, reportedly will be taking the role of Madeline Madrigal, or "Ma-Ma," a matriarchal crime boss cut from the same cloth as Ma Barker, who runs a chunk of the post-Nuke urban sprawl of Mega City One, the beat of Judge Dredd (Urban).
If Heady takes the role, she'll likely be undergoing a movie magic makeover to play Ma-Ma, who's described as a bit of a middle-aged battleaxe, complete with facial scars and a frame as big as her attitude is nasty.
This Dredd is looking pretty good on paper (or pixels) so far, with Travis' chops as a director and writer Garland's aggressive take on genre, as evidenced by his work on SunshineNever Let me Goand (hopefully) the upcoming Halo movie. While Sylvester Stallone is making a comeback with his recent Rocky and Rambo sequels, Judge Dredd is one character we're kind of thankful he won't be revisiting, looking back at the pretty limp Judge Dredd flick he made back in the 1990s.
