The original Mirror's Edge was a brilliant but flawed game, particularly in its combat mechanics. Liu conceded as much in the interview, and promised that DICE would improve the experience in any sequel:
"We know what strengths we had, and what weaknesses we had in that game. If we were to release a new game, we'd know what to improve and how to reach a broader audience. So I definitely think there's a market there."
"I think it's something that people are ready to get into again."Of course, this isn't confirmation of a new game, only chatter. Earlier this year, EA executive Frank Gibeau also expressed his desire for a Mirror's Edge 2:
"We're actively looking at how to bring it back in the right way. We love that franchise, the DICE guys really created something special the first time around. You've got to have a big idea to be able to do the next one, and that's what we're working on."While we wait for DICE to "work on" that big idea, Mirror's Edge fans have been using youtube to push the first-person parkour concept in new directions. Check out this awesome music video, which is clearly influenced by the original game:
