This week we learned that three giant fighting robot movies were indeed not enough, and that we will in fact be getting a fourth Transformers flick in 2014. We also heard that Michael Bay will return to attempt something audacious even for him: rebooting his own franchise. But exactly what does "reboot" mean here?
Josh Duhamel, who co-starred in each of the first three flicks, has at least one idea of what it might mean (for him, anyway). Duhamel says he's not planning to return for a fourth flick, and he doesn't think any of his fellow humans will join the Autobots and Decepticons for another round either.
"I don't think anybody's doing it. I know Shia [LaBoeuf]'s not doing it. I don't think Tyrese or Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] or anybody else is doing it."
We've been hearing for months now, long before this whole reboot thing surfaced, that new stars might be in the cards for the flick. So could this be an entry point for, say, Jason Statham?
Maybe, but according to Badass Digest, the reboot angle could be less about plot and more about shifting the perspective of the flick away from the humans and toward the Transformers. They're also crediting a "source close to the production" with the information that the flick will be a direct sequel toDark of the Moon, but the reboot will be in how the tale is told (more robots, less humans).
Of course, this could all change tomorrow, but even if it does, Duhamel seems to indicate the flick will be bringing on an almost entirely new cast of humans. Statham doesn't seem to be on board (yet), so who else should join the Autobots in their battle to save mankind? LINK
