Robonaut and astronaut make the first human-robot space handhake

If we're going to make friends with non-humans as we travel through space, we had better get used to shaking their hands. NASA got in some practice yesterday, when astronaut Dan Burbank shook hands with Robonaut on board the International Space Station.

Luckily Robonaut didn't take this opportunity to turn on his human companions and seize control of the ship, but instead signed the words 'hello world' with his dextrous fingers. For the record, Burbank reports that the handshake was a firm one. VIDEO
