The AndyVision is a robot that trolls the corridors of a store and looks for items that are out of stock, thus keeping shelves full and potential profits coming. AndyVision uses a database combination of 2D and 3D imagery, along with a machine learning algorithm, to process and report the missing stock on the store shelves.
Currently the robot is only being used as a prototype test in Carnegie Mellon's campus store, but the school hopes to put the AndyVision in other commercial outlets in the near future. You can see the robot in action in the video below.
