Guy Pearce is seriously digging sci-fi roles these days. He's in theaters right now roaming a space prison in Lockout, we'll see him later this year in Ridley Scott'sPrometheus, and now it appears he's signed on to play a pivotal role in Iron Man 3. So where does Pearce fit in to Tony Stark's next adventure?
Variety reports that Pearce is in "final talks" to play geneticist Aldrich Killian in director Shane Black's Iron Man feature. The film is based, at least in part, on Warren Ellis' acclaimed Iron Man comic story "Extremis," which features Killian as the creator of the nanotechnology that Stark uses to revolutionize his Iron Man armor.
Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson are all set to return to the franchise for the third installment. Pearce joins Sir Ben Kingsley, who will play the flick's villain, as a newcomer to the Marvel movie universe.
So, Pearce has already intrigued us with his viral appearance as a robotics expert in Prometheus, and now he's set up for another science-centric role in another huge sci-fi flick. What do you think? Good casting?
