Eighteen-year-old Eesha Khare won a $50,000 award from Intel on Friday for designing a supercapacitor that can charge cellphones in 30 seconds flat. That's pretty incredible, since my phone usually runs out of juice at inopportune moments when searching for an outlet and hovering for an extended period while it charges just isn't going to cut it. Just imagine how convenient it would be to use Khare's clever energy storage tech without waiting minutes, or hours if you have a super old phone — shame on you, by the way. You know you're reading a tech blog, right?
Khare's supercapacitor would fit inside your phone, charge very quickly and last up to ten times longer than the standard batteries being used today. She plans to use her winnings from the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair "to go to college and to keep making a lot of scientific advancements."
