The animated film WALL-E showed us a disturbing future in which lazy humans get around via tiny personal hovercrafts, but in reality some disabled people could actually use such a device. The very real Chariot just might be that device.
The Segway-like vehicle is a prototype from Exmovere Holdings, designed to give those who have lost the use of their legs more mobility. The Chariot is guided by subtle movements of the hips and torso and will feature sign and ground sensors as well as wireless and cellular connectivity. While it's not available commercially just yet, the company hopes to partner with an auto maker to create an enhanced version of the vehicle. You can see The Chariot in action in the video below.
