Fisker Karmas can now be had as low as $40k on eBay
Fisker Automotive recently closed its doors shortly after laying off its entire workforce. This means no new examples of its Karma model will be produced, making it a car for the ages.

The end of the Fisker brand, however, doesn’t mean the end of Fisker sales. Some Fisker Karma owners are now looking to unload their luxury hybrid sedans for significant discounts.

eBay has around 26 Karmas currently up for auction, according to a Business Insider report. While some are listed for $79,995, others are going for as little as $40,200, which is around 60-perent off the original $120,000 sticker price.

Despite the discounted price, a Karma may still be a risky purchase, no matter this discount. Consumer Reports gave the luxury hybrid a failing grade in 2012 when its Fisker Karma had to "multiple trips back to the dealer."

There is a potential solution to the Karma’s reliability issues, however. For an extra $85,000, Karma owners can have their cars retrofitted by VL Automotive. The result is called the “Destino.” VL Automotive removes the original hybrid powertrain and converts the Karma to include 556-horsepower version of the 6.2-liter GM V8 from the Cadillac CST-V.

While this is the beginning of discounted Karmas, it is likely not to be the end.
