73-year-old Tatsuo Horiuchi is a Japanese digital artist who uses Microsoft Excel to make large-scale landscape pieces. Horiuchi isn't the first person to make artwork using Excel, but these delicate nature motifs are definitely unlike anything we've seen before.
So, here's what we want to know: How does one get started making spreadsheet art? It turns out that it was kind of happenstance for Horiuchi, who discussed his work with PC Online:
Other specialized graphic software is expensive, and Excel came pre-installed in PCs. I saw other people neatly drawing graphs, and I thought it seemed like Excel could be used to draw art.
