Microsoft and Spielberg announce live-action TV adaptation of Halo

Tuesday has been all about Microsoft's Xbox. Or should we say their Xbox One? Microsoft and 343 Industries are producing an exclusive TV series just for the console. They've joined forces with Steven Spielberg for a live-action adaptation of one of their best-selling games—Halo.

It's no secret that Spielberg is a bit of a gamer. But at the Xbox One presentation, he revealed why he's really interested in bringing Halo to life.
"Like all of you here today, I have been playing games for decades," Spielberg says during the conference. "Those stories have gotten more compelling and the technology has certainly improved, and so for me, the 'Halo' universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth-making meet to produce something really groundbreaking. I'm incredibly excited about the great journey we're all on; the heroes, worlds and wonders that Halo will take us on."
343 Industries' Bonnie Ross wants the Xbox One to take television to the next level.
"As a huge fan of television shows like Breaking Bad, Band of Brothers and my personal favorite Game of Thrones, it's been inspiring to see television become a medium to bring the scope and scale of ever more ambitious worlds and adventures to life. I'm excited by the potential of merging the storytelling magic of television with the interactive innovation of Xbox One.
The show's still in the early stages of development. It doesn't have an official title, cast or premiere date. If  you can't get a live-action Halo movie, isn't this the next best thing?
