Look who may sink his teeth into Sookie when True Blood returns

Christopher Meloni is going to the dark side. The former Law & Order: SVU star is heading to HBO for a supernatural role—the actor might join those promiscuous vamps on the new season of True Blood.

The folks over at True Blood have their eye on Meloni for a top-secret character. The actor is being groomed to play "an incredibly powerful vampire" for next season. What's his name? We're not sure. The news hasn't been confirmed, and True Blood rarely follows the books in terms of casting. Anything's possible!
Fans of Meloni are used to seeing him as straight-laced Detective Elliot Stabler on NBC's Law & Order: SVU. But last spring, the actor surprisingly jumped ship after 12 seasons. He's currently playing a general in the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. And after that—if everything goes right—he'll be biting and snapping necks onTrue Blood in no time.
Before playing cops and upstanding citizens, Meloni starred as convicted murderer Chris Keller on HBO's Oz. The show featured its fair share of sci-fi and fantasy alumni, including Lost's Harold Perrineau, Spider-Man's J.K. Simmons, Ghostbusters' Ernie Hudson, Dean Winters from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Kirk Acevedo from Fringe. Even Meloni got in on the action, when he voiced Hal Jordan in 2009's Green Lantern: First Flight.
Who do you think Meloni will play on True Blood?
