Want to see the 1st Hobbit trailer? You may have to see Holmes, too

If you're thinking about going to see Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows when it opens next month, you might want to plan to get there early. And if you are not sure about seeing the movie, you may want to reconsider.
That's because rumor has it that the first teaser trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first half of Peter Jackson's mammoth adaptation of the Tolkien novel, will go out to theaters with all prints of the Sherlock Holmes sequel.
Star (and second unit director!) Andy Serkis recently hinted that we might get our first look at The Hobbit in December, and with Sherlock Holmes being the only big-budget blockbuster coming out around the holidays from the same studio as The Hobbit, it sounds like a perfect match.

But wait, there's more! According to the same source (this tweet from in-the-knowVariety reporter Jeff Sneider), Sherlock Holmes will also be bringing a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises along for the ride.
As previously reported, a six-minute prologue for Christopher Nolan's final Batman epic will play in front of IMAX screenings of Mission Impossible IV: Ghost Protocol. But this trailer will undoubtedly be different and give us a taste of more footage from Christian Bale's eagerly awaited third adventure as the Caped Crusader.
No one's confirming any of this, of course, but the bottom line is that you should go see Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows when it opens on Dec. 16 and get there very early. Then go see Mission Impossible in IMAX—which opens the same week—for a double dose of Bat-mania!
