A brand-new and very cool full Japanese trailer for the upcoming CGI flick Space Pirate Captain Harlock has hit the web.
The film is a remake of the classic anime called Space Pirate Captain Harlock, which is based on Leiji Matsumoto's original 1977-79 manga. It has a production of about $30 million U.S.
To date, Captain Harlock is Toei Animation’s biggest production budget, and it shows. The trailer is a splendid piece of CG animation.
The trailer even opens with a quote from James Cameron, no less, which states, "This unprecedented event is already legendary."
Okay, James, we’ll just have to take your word for it.
The only downside to this awesomely superb trailer is the rather cheesy theme song from rock band ONE OK ROCK, titled “Be the Light.”
Space Pirate Captain Harlcok is set to open in Japan on Sept. 7. London-based film sales company GFM Films has revealed that it is currently working on an international dub, so fingers crossed that we’ll get to see it here sooner rather than later.
